'What makes a good writer?'

'What makes a good writer?'
A general perception in the society about young generation is that, “a good percentage of youth is no more interested in reading”, but while making this claim no one ever tried to put their efforts to know, what are the reasons? What are new forms of entertainment that might be the reasons of diversion? Fortunately I tried to put myself in and it did not took much time when I realized that it is not advanced entertainment that keeps youth away from reading but the quality of material generally available around us which sucks us up to this much extreme levels that we prefer breaking up our relationship with books and find some other sort of entertainment which most of the times does not satisfy our spiritual thirst.

I once asked to one of my friend why he does not like reading and I was astonished of his answer when he replied me with somewhat these sentences, “buddy I am completely unable to understand the vocabulary used by those whom people call professional writers, most of the stuff is hypothetical and has got nothing to do with real life, it seems like they are addressing to the people of specific mindsets”. . . . As I said above that, I was astonished of his answer and it was because the issues that he stated are the ones that almost every reader faces while reading. According to some anonymous person the main reason behind bad written stuff, whatever form it may reach us is that, “those who should read are writing”.

Above is definitely one reason but not the only reason why readers are not reading. Since, I now knew the reason and now I should find out, ‘how to cope up the issue?’ I have believe in the fact that there are natural writing abilities and sometimes circumstances that ignite an spark of writing which cannot be discounted while comparing with those who enters the world of writing as matter of career but still the cases are rare and by putting upmost efforts a unique position can be achieved. So according to my personal experiences and of those around me if one wants to be a good writer he must possess thesefundamental abilities and out of which
First-one is that he should ‘Read a lot’; no matter how much quality material you are reading but it for sure adds others experience in his life and recycle his thoughts and in addition if what one is reading is quality stuff then luck is with him. Reading will opens, broadens, enlightens, enriches and sharpens his mind, it completely transforms the way he think, the way he see rest of the world and the way he analyze any matter.

Second-quality he should have in a writer is to understand his audience, he should understand the mental state and level of understanding of his target audience as well as he should also take care of general public because when a book or any other form of writing is on showcase everyone is free to buy/get it and read it, in fact if writer focuses more on general audience his writing turns out automatically into an understandable, simple and interesting work.
Third-thing about good writer is that he never imposes his knowledge about classical and traditional vocabulary and always tries to puts his message in as simple words as possible. A writer must understand that whatever he is writing is ultimately not for him but for others so he should write or he should express his thoughts in a manner that is highly and easily acceptable by his target audience as well as if someone other than the group of his target audience reads him should not be disappointed. Along with the care of simplicity if the choice of words are better than the conventional words that are used in routines the writing will become an adorable bouquet of flowers.

Fourth-quality that good writer should have is that he should try to relate his stuff with ongoing era because, ‘he may not be living in present era while writing but, his reader definitely is’. A writer should keep this in mind that anyone who holds his literature has not just got intentions of only reading it but understanding it too by relating it to present.
Fifth-thing that makes any person a good writer is that he is always in touch with the society and he should try to understand the requirements of his audience in terms of topic upon which he intends to write because it is his audience who has to read so if he is going to write on the stuff which is conflicting the demands of his audience than it is going to be really difficult for him to sustain specially if one is beginning to step in the writing field.

These are not just enough but this definitely if considered by any writer, whether beginner, amateur or professional, it will not be more interesting and easy to understand for their current audience but it will without any doubt bring new audience and will revive old era of versatile writing and reading. Ending with one of my favorite motivational quote of Greek Philosopher Epictetus, which I think everyone who wants to be a good writer must keep in mind and it is,
”If you wish to be a writer, write”.
